Description
This Lakeshore Wedding Album features the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. An outdoor wedding took place at this location. Therefore, a leather nature scene design on the cover was commissioned to match.
Six levels form the trees and cliff. For instance, the trees and rocks farthest to the left raise the highest. In contrast, the lowest level falls into the background as the sky. I used a razor blade to carve the elements. Next, each gets wrapped and embossed under leather.
Several leathers compose the color composition. First, smooth brown leather covers the rocks. Second, suede green wraps around the trees. Third, smooth blue deerskin forms the water. Forth, light blue suede leather forms the backdrop of the sky. In addition, the light blue embosses tightly around the handcarved initials. Lastly, rust leather wraps around the spine, edged by copper wire.
Metallic copper handmade paper lines the interior as endsheets. Speckled off-white and dark blue acid-free pages are bound into the book, sewn around the two leather cords seen around the spine.
Handstiched headbands protect the spine ends. I wrap leather cords with thread colors to compliment the color scheme. In specific, this album shows headbands wrapped with rust and blue threads to coordinate with the leather.
A double layer of 55 lb tensile strength fabric reinforces the hinges to ensure heirloom quality and durability. Archival permanently flexible bookbinding glue safeguards the book for a lifetime of durability.
Please feel free to view additional nature themed books, which might include leaves, trees, landscapes, animals, and more. And here is another landscape book, this one with a red tree.
