Sculptural Book on Springs

Description

Each Sculptural Book on Springs slightly sways in the breeze but remains upright since they are balanced on springs. Intended to be miniature book sculptures, they are indeed also functional.  Therefore, one can certainly write on the colorful acid-free pages handbound into the books.

Firmly attached assemblages of steel and brass diesel truck engine parts affix to the top cover.  In addition, fine tall springs shoot from the top and encourage motion. The books alone without the springs measure  3 1/2″ and 2 1/4″.

Colorful threads wrap around leather cords to form headbands, stitched directly into the spine ends. Handmade paper lines the interior of each Sculptural Book on Springs as endsheets.
