Description
I made this Askew Mosaic Journal just for fun. Firstly, each page is non-square. Secondly, every page is a different size. As a result, pages get longer toward the back of the book. They also become more angled. Thirdly, every other page alters height and width. The pages follow the front or back cover shapes. Angled blue tinted acid-free pages are bound into this askew shaped book.
The steel mosaic on the cover rests on raised platforms. It is made of galvanized steel on multiple levels. Copper sheeting has been textured and flame burnished . Also, it is highlighted with three copper diesel truck engine parts as an accent.
Blue suede leather wraps the righthand platform. Subsequently, it was then wired onto the cover. The main body of the cover is stretched in smooth black cowhide. However, the edges are suede black leather for textural contrast. Also, a stripe of blue suede leather runs up the center of the back cover.
The leather binding cords are angled as well. The pages are sew directly around these cords.
Handmade paper coversheets line the inside. These coversheets are extended a bit. Therefore, they are exposed on the inner cover edges for extra decor. They are copper coated and highly textural.
Headbands are handstitched. They consist of light and dark blue threads sewn around leather cords.
Here are a few other mosaic books: Mosaic album, Mosaic Recipe Book. Mosaic File Folder, Mosaic Wedding Album.
