Description
An embossed name highlights this Celtic Cross Personalized Bible. Black leather wraps around hand formed lettering to customize the Bible.
I hand cut four pieces of copper to make the elements for the Celtic Cross. A slight patina coats the copper cross. Therefore, it shows some subtle variation in color. To explain, I sprayed lemon juice and vinegar on the raw copper surface to create color and aging. Then clear coating sealed in the desired finish. A copper washer becomes the center focal point of the Celtic Cross.
This old Bible required some refurbishing. First, I glued loose pages back into place since it was not a sewn binding. Second, a full Japanese style of binding sewed the entire Bible together. Therefore, the binding would be strong enough to accomodate a new cover and not fall apart again. Third, construction of a new cover began.
Five raised cords decorate the spine. Also, handstiched headbands protect the spine ends. I wrap leather cords with thread colors to compliment the color scheme. In the instance, they are directly sewn onto the binding edges with purple and black threads.
Handmade purple paper lines the inner covers. In addition, two new built-in purple leather bookmarks attach to the upper spine. The cover hinges have been reinforced with 55 lb. tensile strength fabric to make this Celtic Cross Personalized Bible extra durable.
Most importantly, archival permanently flexible glue safeguards the book for a lifetime of durability.
