Description
These Leather Boxes for Books protect antique books within. The custom clamshell boxes feature rounded spines with faux binding cords. Consequently, the custom boxes look like books when on a shelf. The righthand side of the boxes concave inwards to give the appearance of pages. This corresponds to the convex rounded spine to mimic a book spine.
An old english initial S represents a family name which links to the contents of the protected book inside. The gothic font caps with a fleur-de-lis cross at the top. Likewise, an embossed cross features on the cover of the second black leather clamshell box.
Each box was made as a protective case for books from 1817 and 1903. Double thick walls strengthen the boxes as book protection. In addition, 55 pound tensile strength fabric reinforces the hinges.
Leather pockets are riveted to the inside of the Leather Boxes for Books to hold loose documents. Also, rivets attach a leather strap to the inside of each clamshell box. It stretches under the book and lifts to pull the book from the protective box.
