Description
This Paris 1900 Clamshell Box houses French Literature from 1900. Importantly, it contains documents from the turn of the century Paris World Exposition.
A close-up of a Paris Metro sign features on the cover. Most noteworthy, Hector Guimard designed the art nouveau Paris Metro sign for the 1900 World Expo. I carved multiple layers of board to form the metro sign.
Five faux binding cords accents the black leather on the box spine end.
Acanthus Scroll linen fabric lines the interior of the custom clamshell box. The filigree scrollwork was recreated from an authentic 1900 design.
Black cowhide covers the box exterior, featuring a suede gold inset. In addition, green lambskin stretches around the box walls.
55 lb tensile strength fabric reinforces all hinges and joints. As a result, the custom black leather box durability protects the French literature. Significantly, all walls are double layered with stepped joints for extra strength.
Soft leather ties affix to each cover as a closure. Also, the front tie includes a copper ring on the Paris 1900 Clamshell Box.
