Description
This Stained Glass Door Pair connected book set features gothic windows. The siamese twin binding connects the book pair by sharing a back cover.
Four stained glass windows embed into the front covers of the double door journals. In addition, a yellow stained glass window highlights the gothic arch of the shared back cover.
All door hardware of each door book is handformed.
Firstly, copper sheet metal and wire has been cut and hammered into shape for the door design. Also, they each wire firmly through the cover for full functionality when opening each arched door. Certainly, decorative copper keyhole plates adorn the orange leather door books. Furthermore, each orange door includes hand hammered thick wire as copper door handles and thumb latches on the double door binding.
Secondly, an assemblages of silver, nickel, and pewter beads accents the door details. Silver tube beads highlight the door handles, under the copper door plate. In addition, textured pewter and nickel beads adorn the arched copper frieze rail ends on each gothic stained glass window.
Thirdly, those door frieze curves showcase a verdigris copper finish. I created the green patina with ketchup, lemon juice, and salt. Therefore, a green finish coats the copper door frieze for an aged look.
Six door panels under the windows form from four levels.
Upon opening the doors, yellow handmade paper lines the interior as coversheets. Significantly, swirls ripped from orange handmade paper decorate the lower edge. As a result, the swirl coordinates with an embossed swirl on the back cover.
In contrast, the back coversheet showcases green crinkled handmade paper. Backing fibers protrude from the edges of the green decorative paper. Also, a dark green swirl adds a highlight on the inner back cover of the double volume book.
Acid-free pages fill the leather door journals, including an assortment of rag papers printed with abstract serigraphs.
Handstitched headbands on the Stained Glass Door Pair consist of leather cords wrapped with yellow and orange thread. They protect the spine edges on each door journal.
