Description
Green leather wraps around this Copper Vine Bible as a custom request.
I cut and sanded each copper leaf. Subsequently, they were clearcoated and wired onto the custom cover. Slim copper wire forms the veins on each leaf.
Lemon juice and vinegar altered the finish on the copper before clearcoating. Therefore, a desired green patina emerges.
The cover steps up three levels for added texture and interest. In addition, copper wire edges the leather transition line by the black spine. Furthermore, copper wire both accents and protects the righthand edges of the Copper Vine Bible, including the inner back cover.
Handmade paper lines the inner covers as endsheets.
Handstitched headbands are sewn directly into the binding protect edges. In other words, I wrap leather cords on each spine end with thread colors to compliment the color scheme and attach them to the spine ends.
A double layer of 55 pound tensile strength fabric reinforces the hinges to ensure strength and heirloom quality. In addition, and most importantly, archival permanently flexible glue safeguards the book for a lifetime of durability. Specifically, this ensures that the binding will never crack like some old books do with inferior glue.
