This custom requested black leather Fleur De Lis Bible features a three dimensional Fleur De Lis Cross.
I handcarved the cross and then slowly embossed it under the leather one half inch at a time. To clarify, only a tiny bit of glue brushes onto the sculpture. Next, the leather is worked tightly into the grooves and crevices until dry. Patiently, the entire cross eventually wraps in leather by this process. As a result, the slow careful application of the leather allows for a crisp sharp embossing of the cross on the Fleur De Lis Bible.
Three ribbon pagemarkers attach to the upper spine. Handmade green paper lines the inner cover as endsheets, which also adds color to the interior.
A double layer of 55 pound tensile strength fabric reinforces the hinges to ensure strength and heirloom quality. In addition, and most importantly, archival permanently flexible glue safeguards the book for a lifetime of durability. Therefore, most importantly, the hinges and spine will not crack over time like some books which have inferior glue often do. Instead, they will remain soft and flexible.
