Description
This Gustav Klimt Leather Book features a representation of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt’s Frieze at Palais Stoclet.
The Tree of Life forms from handcarved layers of binders board. In specific, the Klimt tree was patiently carved with razor blades. Next, moss green lambskin wraps tightly around the branches. Resulting from brushing glue 1/2″ at a time. The leather works into the grooves with handtools until dry during this slow process.
Metal parts accent the Tree of Life design.
The Custom Leather Klimt Book contains thick archival 100% cotton rag paper pages. An archival light moss green linen strip attaches to each page. Next, each strip folds in half. As a result, thread can sew through these strips to bind the book. Thread sews around the six leather binding cords along the spine.
The headbands are handstitched. In other words, they comprise of leather cords wrapped with green and metallic gold threads to protect the spine edges.
55 lb tensile strength fabric reinforces the hinges. Thereby, ensuring heirloom quality and durability.
Metallic gold paper lines the interior of the Gustav Klimt Leather Book.
I received prints of Gustav Klimt’s artwork for this project. I carefully mounted one on each page. Therefore, preserving and displaying them within this archival art book.
